Police investigating groping of 12 year old in Vancouver

Police are on the lookout and are warning the public after a 12-year-old girl was groped in Vancouver’s Shaughnessy neighbourhood.

According to a media release from the Vancouver Police Department, around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, the girl paused to check her phone near the corner of King Edward Avenue and Pine Crescent. The girl said a man ran up to her and groped her before running south along Pine.

The man is believed to be in his late 40s or early 50s, with grey stubble on his face and a noticeable freckle near his right eye.

He was wearing a black toque, t-shirt, tight, black pants and carrying a black backpack.

There are several schools — Shaughnessy Elementary, York House and Little Flower Academy — just a few blocks away.

Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to call Vancouver Police at 604-717-9218 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
