Oh, how good it feels to be back! Returning for my second year of The Vancouver Sun Run and Intraining Run Clinics, I couldn’t be more excited! Returning to Brittania to find many familiar faces and plenty of new runners. Like that first day back to school after summer vacation, it is good to be back and see everyone excited and motivated!
One of the most exciting things about this year is the addition of the new group. In addition to the Learn to Walk 10km, Learn to Run 10Km and Run Stronger, is the new group RunWalk 10km.
My goal for last year as a sponsored runner was simply just to finish, no specific time in mind. At the end of last years journey, I had disclosed that I was previously a smoker for 15 years. So just finishing the Sun Run was an achievement alone.
This year I came back having felt all the feels and cried all the tears that actually accomplishing a goal can bring. I am ready to take last years finish time and shave some time off. It feels so good to be back!
I knew going into it that the Run10KStrong program was going to be a bit much for me. However, I also knew that the LearnToRun10K program was going to be a bit slow going. After the Sun Run finished, I carried on with my training, although not as frequent, running was very much still a huge part of my life as I started my own running group in the neighborhood for people to come out, and run with us or even walk, no pressure to keep up!
The LearnToRun10K program that I did last year through the Intraining, will help you learn to finish the race. The Run10KStrong program is for those avid runners who have speed and can comfortably run the distance! Enter the new clinic, the RunWalk10K program, an intermediate progression for those who would like to work up to the Run10KStronger program.
The RunWalk10K program is for runners who are ready to incorporate more running into their training but still enjoy the walk recoveries! It’s been that extra push that I think I might need to shave some time off!
Running intervals has kept me motivated to continue my other two sessions during the week. In the next few weeks, I am looking forward to some weight training at Trevor Linden Club 16 coming up! I couldn’t be more excited to be back as a sponsored runner for another year! Now let’s get to work!
