Daily Poll: Do you support the changes to the Spanish Banks paid parking proposal?

Following push back from local citizens over its plan to implement seasonal paid parking at Spanish Banks, the city of Vancouver has modified its paid parking proposal.

Initially, the city hoped to charge for parking during peak season, beginning April 1 and ending Sept. 30. Spanish Banks is the only park in the city where there remains free parking.

But a recent online petition launched by David Fine garnered more than 11,000 signatures in recent days, urging the Vancouver Parks Board to reconsider their plans.

On Monday, the park board agreed to shorten the seasonal period during which Spanish Banks parking would be paid – beginning Victoria Day long weekend and ending Labour Day – and allow for free parking during early morning hours from 6 to 9 a.m.
